A Gentle Approach to Pediatric Dentistry
Dr. Melanie was born and raised in Peru, where she received her first Doctorate of Dental Surgery. Her passion for children led her to also earn a diploma in early childhood education, and she worked in a dental clinic located in a primary school before moving to the United States.
Once settled in Virginia, she enrolled at Howard University College of Dentistry and graduated on the dean's list — all while raising her daughter. She went on to complete a specialty in pediatric dentistry at Howard University, where she was appointed Chief Resident.
Her Approach
Dr. Melanie is incredibly passionate about her patients, whom she calls her "little friends." She strives to provide exceptional dental care while meeting each child's individual needs — because she understands no child is alike.
She believes a friendly, positive environment creates the foundation for lifelong good dental health. She partners closely with parents, sharing current information about pediatric dentistry as well as practical tips from her own experiences as a mom.

Beyond the Office
Dr. Melanie lives in Alexandria with her husband Richard, their daughter Lea, and their Beagle Kooba. She enjoys home projects and spending time with family.
